Dans Mon Brun (2009)
As a young artist who was born in Africa, but lived on different continents, Abe finds herself reflecting, who and what doshe represent in this brown body that walks the earth? Is she an artist first…or is she an African? Or really, does it matter? As a mere human being, what force is used to communicate that is non-verbal? This performance continues to explore the continuity of time that she finds so fascinating, as well, in combination with the installation. It discusses the previous, present and future relationships of the western world and Africa. This piece was exhibited on the western coast of Africa, in Cameroon, where Abe found similar identity questions in existence.
